Be creative, have fun, do what you do best... I love when I have a client that comes to me and challenges me creatively. When Thomas (Mickey) came to me and asked for a headshot session I was not expecting to end the session shooting some awesome portraits that would be inspired by an Aquatic Superhero. Let me explain...
A little background, I like to refer to Mickey as my "bonus brother". He's my brother's best friend from childhood and was a staple in our home. He's hilarious, always makes me smile, and has the best hugs ever. He also LOVES all things superhero. Mickey is and always will be unpredictable but in the best way possible. So, I was very excited when he asked me to capture some updated headshots because he wanted to gift his parents canvases for Christmas. However, in true Mickey fashion, he had a twist on the session.
When Mickey contacted me he joked about being Aquaman in some of the pictures and having his niece "paint on eyebrows" for the session. However, the want for the session was to get updated headshots for his family. We started our session in the Historic Millwork District. The weather for October was AMAZING. The session was easy, laid back, full of laughter.
Then it happened, in an alley in Dubuque, I was shooting AquaMick! It was fantastic. I was thrilled to have brought a full arsenal of lights with me that day to be able to pull off the lighting needed to then create these awesome composites that were superhero inspired.
A big thank you to Mickey for choosing me and trusting me to capture these epic portraits. It was so fun to do something over the top and creative. Enjoy!
