Let's get personal for a moment. I believe that a photography experience should be personal because you're entrusting me to capture who you are, your story, and pause a moment in time that generations of your family will cherish. Why would you trust a stranger to do that?! I mean, awkward. So here we go, I'd like to introduce myself with 10 fun facts about me that maybe you didn't know. It's an ice breaker post and hopefully when I get to meet you whether it's for family portraits, senior portraits, or your child's next milestone session we'll have even more to chat about!
10) If you haven't browsed the website and found my bio (shame on you, kidding) then you aren't familiar with my background. I have a Bachelor's Degree from the Illinois Institute of Art where I studied Interactive Media and Design. For 7 years I was dedicated to the world of design ranging from software design, to graphic design, motocross graphics, museum exhibits, and interactive training for the Department of Defense. I've worn A LOT of hats but it ultimately came down to the love of photography and capturing the beauty of my clients inside and out. I love working with people and being creative. My passion is to show people the beauty in the ordinary and share my crazy visions with the world.
9) I'm a Mama and a Wife! I have four adorable fur babies, one beautiful little daughter, and a handsome Hubby. My Daughter has changed my whole world in two short years. I never expected to get the chance to be a mom as it was a long journey for my husband and I. I can honestly say she was worth the wait. Becoming a Mom made me realize the importance of what I'm doing for a living. She is growing so fast and I'm trying my hardest to capture everything. If anyone knows a way to pause time or atleast slow it down, let me know!
8) I love musicals, cirque du soleil, and all things Disney. I started watching musicals at a very early age and had quite the collection. The classic Seven Brides for Seven Brothers was the musical that started it all. However, Judy Garland is my favorite actress of all time. In fact, it's a tradition for my husband and I to watch "Meet Me In St. Louis" on Christmas Eve. Her iconic rendition of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" always puts me in the holiday spirit. I've seen every Cirque show available in Vegas including those that are no longer running and I've had the pleasure of seeing a few travel shows.
7) I'm a huge animal lover. I drove my parents crazy with the amount of stray animals that ended up being smuggled into our house. Growing up I had everything from hamsters and guinea pigs to birds and fish and of course cats and dogs. I always wanted a horse but growing up in town, Mom didn't think the neighbors would appreciate the smell.
6) Game of Thrones. Yep, I'm comfortable saying that I am a huge Game of Thrones nerd. The series is phenomenal as well as the books. I've even taken my title as fan/nerd one step further and captured the four main houses in my daughters newborn portraits. Yep, I went there.
5) I've always wanted to be the voice of an animated character. In fact, each of my pets have there own persona and voice when I commentate their everyday lives around the house. (I have no idea why I'm admitting to this). If we're out on the town and have had a few the topic of me singing Frozen's, "Do You Want To Build A Snowman" and nailing all three voices will probably be brought up by my husband.
4) I'm a hockey fan, go Blackhawks. Before becoming a mama, you could frequently catch me cheering on the Dubuque Fighting Saints. My love of hockey has gone way back to my teenage years and I've since recruited my husband.
3) I completely dislike fireworks. I don't find them entertaining and in my opinion if you've seen one fireworks show you've seen them all. I know, it's not a popular stance. However, I have found choreographed fountain shows are to my liking. Give me water shooting 50 ft in the air to a Frank Sinatra tune and call it a good time.
2) I enjoy baking and I have a flair for fancy filled cupcakes. I enjoy passing the time on Pinterest gathering new ideas for cupcakes flavors and holiday treats. My other specialty is my chocolate chip butterscotch cookies. If you're attending a reveal session at the studio, you may be lucky enough to try something I've baked.
1) I'm related to the Wright Brothers and Christopher and John Wright who were apart of the famous Gunpowder Plot. Every family has to have a few black sheep, right? I love history and it just so happens that I have relatives that have been on both the good and bad side of historical events.
