As a mom, I realize the importance of portraits. Even though I'm new at this whole mom thing, in just a year and a half I can't believe how much my daughter has grown, our family has changed, and how fast life has been moving. I have days where I feel I'm frantically looking for a pause button. I want to hold on to these precious moments that everyone says "go by so quickly". Obviously, as a photographer, you can only imagine how many portraits I take but I want to stress that it's not just out of convenience. Before becoming a mom I was a huge supporter of capturing a family as they grow. I believe the greatest art in the world can be found on our own walls. Nothing will ever mean more to you than those beautiful portraits that have made time stand still. The portraits you'll love, the portraits your children will cherish, and the portraits that will tell stories for future generations to appreciate. Heirloom portraits are part of your family's legacy.
With all that being said, let’s talk about the importance of getting the family portrait updated. Let me raise my hand and admit that I, the photographer, hate getting in front of the camera. I totally understand all the thoughts that run through ones' mind when having to get the family portrait updated. Will the kid(s) behave? How do I dress my family for pictures? What am I going to look like in front of the camera? The mere thought of having to coordinate everyone, everything, and not lose your mind is stressful. I TOTALLY GET IT.
If you've been through the portrait process before and it was stressful or anything short of enjoyable, let me fix that. I believe that the portrait experience should be personal, after all, you're trusting me to capture your family and tell your story. This is why I invite all of my clients to my studio for a design consultation. We will get to know one another, talk about your vision for your portraits, and together we'll design a session that fits your style. We will talk extensively about all the big worries such as coordinating wardrobe, day of stresses, and how you'd ultimately like to display your new art. I'm here to help and make this process enjoyable and memorable. I'm proud to say that after my session experiences, I look at my clients as friends not just another family that walked into my studio.
Summer and fall sessions are filling quickly. I can't wait to meet new families and capture more stories. Remember, portraits are the one way we have to slow down time and preserve today. We're capturing today because tomorrow is one step closer to the next chapter.
