The value of a portrait session is hard to put into words. As a photographer, you may think that I’m completely biased. Of course, I believe in the cost of amazing portraits but it may be worth more to me than you think.
My Mother was an orphan at the age of 7. She was raised by her eldest brother and to say it was challenging for her and her siblings would be an understatement. I had always known my Grandmother had died at a young age and my Mom was left to be raised by her older brother but it wasn’t until I was an adult that I grasped the concept of being without a parent or using the word “orphaned” to describe my mother’s childhood. Her love of family and the importance of each moment we had together was always ingrained in my mind.I was taught the value of family first and putting all else aside, to hold tightly to the moments we have together, and to always tell those around you how much you care.
As an adult she has very few things to help her to remember her Mother. A few trinkets from her jewelry box, a prized bible, and a handful of photographs. Those beautiful old
photographs that weren’t so easily accessible as we have today. Those moments that were frozen in time have become some of the most prized possessions. She grew up in an era that found the value of stopping and taking a portrait that wouldn’t be instantaneous. That portrait would build anticipation for weeks and then be proudly displayed. It’s so easy now to take for granted the beauty of our own families displayed proudly in our homes and albums for generations to come.

I don’t take the gift my clients give me very lightly. I know my time spent with them to capture their love, their story, is something to be appreciated. It’s why with every session I take the time to hear who they are because I know they can take their own picture. I know how many people will say they have a “good camera”. What I choose to offer is a unique experience that will allow your family to make another memory. In the process I can be the outsider looking in capturing that moment in time. It may sound cliche and a little cheesy but I want make your portraits something you and generations to come will cherish.
You’re also getting me. I’m invested in creating art for your family and home that will last for decades. You’re getting someone who will take the time to help you share with the world your story and your family's personality without forcing you to sit like statues in front of a camera. I encourage my clients to play, interact, and just love one another like no one else is around. I take the time to plan sessions that will truly fit your family and I make sure all the details are accounted for to make this process as easy as possible. I strive to make this an enjoyable moment, after all we’re capturing good memories and not nightmares. This is a gift I truly pride myself in providing my clients.
The value of a portrait session, as art, is completely objective. To me, the value of helping my clients create beautiful timeless portraits, is priceless.
