This has been an amazing year for myself and the studio. I've learned a lot and I always try to encourage myself to keep pushing forward and growing. Growing can be hard because you make mistakes along the way and you force yourself to work outside of your comfort zone. However, hard work pays off in so many ways; knowledge, confidence, and reaching unthinkable goals.
In February, I had the honor of being selected as one of the top 50 senior portrait artists in the country to follow in 2019. I was incredibly humbled because the amount of talent that submitted to be selected that didn't even make the top 50 were phenomenal, let alone the other 49 photographers that were selected. It pushed me and gave me a new confidence. I made the goal right then that I wanted to be published in one of the top senior photographer magazines in the country. Did I think it would happen? I had no idea. The amount of talented photographers that submit for these publications is daunting and it makes you second guess yourself, or at least it made me second guess myself.
At the end of the summer I submitted for the Senior Year Magazine: Sport Edition publication. They received thousands of submissions and if you don't follow their instagram page you absolutely should! Last night I sat on pins and needles waiting for the announcement as to the list of photographers that made the magazine. I'm overjoyed, excited, and incredibly humbled to tell you that I was one of those photographers selected for not only one of my submissions but TWO!
Submissions were for sports images for the class of 2019 and 2020. Miss Verity Johnson (class of 2019) and Miss Mickenzie Bass (class of 2020) were my two models with images that were selected. I have enjoyed pushing my sports portraits further in the past two years and I'm really looking forward to what next year brings as my sport portrait sessions are on the top of my list for 2020!
So yes, I'm so happy and this was an AMAZING CHRISTMAS GIFT to myself and the studio. Thank you to Senior Year Magazine as well as all of you. You, my clients and friends, push me to be better and help me to believe that I can accomplish all of my goals. Merry Christmas!
Once the magazine is received I will be posting some awesome pictures of the publication so stay tuned.
