Every once in a while a session comes along that makes me realize why I love being a photographer. Of course, I get to be creative and meet wonderful people but photography to me is more than just a portrait on the wall. I'm blessed that families invite me to capture some of the most memorable moments in their lives. I've seen the unconditional love of new parents, the happy beginning of a love story and in this case, the amazing strength of a beautiful family united in love and faith.
I've photographed some of these children several times. I am "Miss Mandi" to a few of them and I can catch their "fake smile" in a heart beat! However, this day was about a Grandma, a Mom and celebrating the love and strength of this family. Nancy was diagnosed with uterine cancer before Easter. She has undergone a few procedures and, at the time of this session, was about to begin chemo and radiation treatments. Nancy is a beautiful, vivacious ,feisty woman and I loved spending time with her amongst the love of her children and grandchildren. This is a proud military family that has not only served our country but serves our community as well. It was an honor to capture this day and these memories and I hope that during the journey ahead they bring back fond memories, a smile or two and laughs from a perfect spring day.
God smiled upon us that day and held off the rain. I know the months ahead He will help to weather this storm for Nancy and her family. You are all wonderful and thank you for sharing your time with me! Enjoy.
