I've known this beautiful family for many years. In fact, Mr. C, the youngest was an infant the last time I took their family portraits. We were certainly long over due with catching up. When Su approached me about doing a family session that celebrated her South African roots with their United States roots, I was super excited. The outcome was a stunning family portrait that perfectly blended this family's story and pride.
It was HOT, during this August session. We made it work and the boys, and dad, were absolutely troopers! Our first stop was the beautiful Dubuque Arboretum. I loved the color combination and any young men that are willing to dress up for family portraits make me proud. I also need to point out how awesome these two brothers are with one another. Brothers will be brothers, however, the love and respect these two have for one another at such a young age is so heartwarming.
Our next location is one of my all time favorites. The view is absolutely breaktaking and the light is always perfect. This yellow dress was a show stopper. How can you go wrong with a man in uniform and THAT DRESS. With a little magic we were able to symbolize the African Flag mixed with the Red White and Blue. It was a truly magical session.
I want to thank Jerry and Su for choosing me to capture these priceless moments. It was an honor to create something so personal for you and I thank you for trusting me. Prayers and good wishes to your family over the next year. May the days go by quickly and the miles not seem so far. Enjoy!
