Miss Emilie was the first to approach me with an idea for her "This is Me" session. Miss Emilie has suffered from scoliosis and as a result has undergone spinal fusion surgery. She now has a metal rod placed in her back to help straighten her spine which has resulted in a very large scar up and down her back. When she approached me she said, "I want to include my scar in my session." My first thought was, wow, how amazing is this young woman that wants to embrace something that I can only imagine was both physically painful and emotionally painful. Celebrating a scar, celebrating a large obstacle she overcame, I was floored. I then thought to myself, this young woman is quite the warrior.
For Emilie's session we channeled a little of everything to get the perfect look. From the Hunger Games, to Divergent, Vikings, and even Wonder Woman. I wanted her warrior look to exude strength, celebrate the start of a new journey, and embrace her scars. We also included the color green which is the awareness color for scoliosis. I believe the result is not only powerful but breathtaking. Thank you Emilie for trusting me with this session and for truly stepping outsides your comfort zone. You are strong, you are amazing, and you are a warrior.
